Meeting someone organically was a thing of the past in the year of 2020. Umesh swiped right on Mythilli, whilst locked down in a pandemic, on an app that was Designed to be Deleted. Hinge.

There was an instant connection when they made their first contact on the app – Umesh was doing a workout and Mythilli was completing a drawing (see below).

Conversation quickly moved to WhatsApp, and you know the drill, speaking on the phone for a minimum of 5 hours a day, organising virtual zoom dates and discussing all the hypotheticals they could get up to once they were out of the pandemic.

Over the next couple of months, they spoke about children, money, work, life, deep and light hearted topics, their pasts, and all their future to come. Unbeknownst to each other, they both knew they were each others’ person, and grew closer each and every day.

Eventually, after 2 months of virtual dating, Umesh and Mythilli were able to meet in person for the first time. That day there were many firsts – their first date, their first kiss and their first picture (see below). But crucially, Umesh asked Mythilli to be his girlfriend, and Mythilli said yes.

Over 3 years since they met, more than 2 years living together and under 1 year to go until their wedding – Umesh and Mythilli are so excited to have you all in Sri Lanka to celebrate their marriage.
